The Magnificence Generated By Modern Architecture

The idea of imparting the social and political developments taking place around the globe in the field of architecture gave rise to one of the most important developments of the modern century i.e. modern architecture. The industrial revolution which took place in the 18th century led to the occurrence of many changes all over the globe and its effect was felt in the field of architecture as well. The development in the fields of engineering and technology enabled the architects to incorporate these changes to different structures, buildings and houses. Modern architecture is mainly characterized by simplicity and originality devoid of any tacky ornamentation.

The structures built in the modern era are simple but elegant and are designed on different themes in a way not to hamper the basic features of the house. Its development started around the 19th and the 20th centuries and focuses on maintaining the health and hygiene of the building. While smooth and leveled walls help in uniform distribution of air in the rooms, the materials used for constructing the buildings, for example can be used repeatedly and one-sided inclined roofs built with leveled and smooth tiles permit stagnant flow of heat. So the structures used in modern times are environmental friendly as well.

Tube architecture gained a lot of popularity during this period since tubes are one of the most important parts contributing in the rise of huge, tall skyscrapers. These tubes have good strength and resistance and are capable of withstanding both vertical and horizontal forces. A Bangladeshi architect was the first one to use the three dimensional frame concepts comprising of tubes to construct a building in Chicago. The tubes are composed of columns spaced closely and connected using frames. Jin Mao Building, World Trade Centre, Sears Tower and Petronas tower are some of the other skyscrapers to be constructed using tube architecture.

The incorporation of tubes also provides support to the structures enabling a reduction in the number of columns leading to an increase in the floor space as well. In modern architecture, the major emphasis was laid on constructing structures which are simple and hygienic, elaborate every minute detail and its functionality as well with exclusion of features which are unnecessary, use of materials which can be reused and can be produced easily in the industries on a large scale.

Architects like modern architecture more because it allows them to develop buildings in their own way. It does not force you to follow some strict rules and regulations unlike the ancient ones. Though the modern form received criticism from many social, political and religious backgrounds, its simplicity and utility resulted in its popularity all around the globe. You can use a wide range of materials for constructing buildings in the modern form and their choice depends on the purpose for which the structure is being built. For example if you need to provide support, you can go for steel, you can use glass to construct delicate structures or you can use concrete for making the floors as well.
